NORMA MORRIS
Principal/bbodance Teacher
Miss Morris trained at the Margaret Whitton School Of Dance, up to advanced level in both performance and teaching and holds a Fellowship Diploma with bbodance.
After five years intensive training as a junior examiner, Miss Morris graduated to a Senior Major Examiner in 1987 and has examined throughout New Zealand, Australia and the UK.
In 1972 Miss Morris became a partner to the now named Whitton Morris School Of Dance and took over as principal in 1989.
Miss Morris is an enthusiastic and dedicated principal, working with students to achieve their best goals in both performing and teaching.
AMI DICKINSON
ISTD Teacher
Ami began dancing at the age of four. As her passion for dance grew she successfully competed in many competitions, locally and nationally. She also gained high marks in many ISTD ballet, modern and tap examinations, as well as being given the opportunity to dance at the Her Majesty's Theatre, London at the age of 16.
At the age of 18 Ami successfully gained a scholarship for The Hammond, Chester where she was trained in ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap, pas de deux, double work and Spanish dance. Here she also gained an advanced certificate in ISTD Modern Theatre Dance, as well as touring around the UK (including London) and Germany with the school's dance company Taudevin. She then graduated in 2010.
Whilst training, Ami took on her first professional role, dancing for a pantomime company in Carlisle in 2008, as well as a Holyoaks Leavers Party at the Albert Dock, Liverpool in 2010.
After graduating Ami decided to move her career into dance teaching and enrolled herself at the Merseyside Dance and Drama Centre (now known as Studio 10 Dance & Drama), Liverpool to focus on becoming a teacher through the ISTD. Here she gained her ISTD teaching qualifications as well as gaining an advanced certificate in ISTD Imperial Ballet whilst she attended as a part time student.
Whilst attending MDDC and up until present Ami has been teaching for a number of dance schools across North Wales and the North West. She has taught children from the age of 18 months up to 20 in ballet, modern, jazz, tap and musical theatre, as well as choreographing dances for compertitions and performances and entering children for ISTD modern and tap examinations. She joined the Whitton Morris School Of Dance in 2014.
PHILIPPA KITCHEN
Vocal Coach
After leaving school Philippa joined the Vocal Tech College, London where she trained in all aspects of vocal techniques, from pop to rock to jazz, also developing solo performances and harmony techniques. She was selected to perform at the Royal Albert Hall alongside one of her tutors and has also worked with the London Gospel Choir.
In 2004 Philippa joined LIPA and gained a diploma in Vocal Performance And Sound Technology. Here she learnt all the technical aspects of being a singer and can control a recording studio, a live desk and complete the set-up.
A teaching opportunity took Philippa to a school in Liechtenstein for one year and then on returning home she resumed teaching privately. From 2008 to 2011 she worked as a vocal coach for Yamaha Music School in Holywell and Llandudno, as well as conducting workshops in primary schools across the area.
In 2012 Philippa established PhilsHarmonics, a choir for children aged 6+ through to adults, which teachers members how to sing and creating harmonies whilst building their confidence and performance. PhilsHarmonics often calibrate with Whitton Morris School Of Dance for productions at Theatr Clwyd.
In 2012 Philippa joined The Whitton Morris School Of Dance as a musical theatre vocal coach. She now also works for a variety of dance schools, enhancing their vocal abilities as well as teaching private students of all ages.
